Otter Note privacy
Updated November 6, 2026. Clear, LLC operates Otter Note under the OtterClouds brand.
Recordings, transcripts, and notes
Recordings and notes are stored on your device. Speech recognition runs on the device; meeting audio is not uploaded to our speech server. Optional supported Apple Intelligence summaries run on-device. Exports go to the destination you choose. Model downloads can require an internet connection.
Accounts
Sign-in requires an email address and password. Our backend stores account information, salted password hashes, and hashed session tokens to authenticate you. Sessions expire after seven days. Separate accounts use separate local libraries. Account sign-in does not provide cloud backup or synchronization of meeting content.
Optional usage sharing
Usage sharing is off by default. With your permission, we collect screen visits and foreground viewing time with identifiers needed to process those events. We do not include meeting content, recording titles, email addresses, or search queries in these metric events. Turning off sharing deletes collected metrics after the server receives the request. Events older than 90 days are removed during ingestion.
Service providers and purchases
AWS hosts account services and processes support email. Apple handles App Store purchases under its own policies. Our services process connection information to deliver and protect account access. We do not include advertising SDKs in this website.
Your choices
You can disable usage sharing, export local content, and remove local recordings and notes. Contact privacy@otterclouds.com for account or privacy requests. We may need to verify your identity. Self-service account deletion is not yet available in the app.
